Platinum #3776 Century Fujin Raijin (The Wind God and the Thunder God) Fountain Pen, PNB-30000H #3
The Platinum Kanazawa-Haku fountain pen series are created using gold leaf production technique. This meticulous process has been used since ancient times in Japan to create folding screens or paintings. Gold leaf production is a process of stretching a tiny amount of gold to a thin square and then torn into smaller pieces and pasted together. This hand process created depth, giving an elegant glow that reflects light and adding a lively motion to the gods.
The beauty of the Kanazawa-haku (gold leaf) and the traditional techniques have joined together to release a premium masterpiece, the Kanazawa-haku fountain pen “Fujin Raijin (the Wind God and the Thunder God).”
The base of this pen body is resin with layers of gold leaf pasting in random form to cap and barrel with a painting of Fujin and Raijin, a defining symbol of Japan. The two Gods are painted to the surface of gold layers in black, silver and brown.
Fūjin (The God of Wind), his typical pose is carrying a large bag of winds on his shoulders to create gusts and gales. He usually has a messy appearance and wild hair from all the wind.
Raijin (The God of Thunder), he has only three fingers on each hand, which are said to represent the past, present and future. His hands are holding hammers to create thunder by beating the drums.
The wind god controls the wind while the thunder god controls lightening, these two brothers represent protectors or warrior figures, coupled with a traditional hirmakie technique of pasting tiny bits of gold leaf to the pen body, giving a delicately textured surface plus an elegant glow that reflects light with a depth, giving a lively motion to these two painted figures. Bringing together of all these, making this pen a remarkable, a true masterpiece that filled with dignity and grace.
As the design painting to the barrel of each pen and the process of pasting gold leaf are all done by hand, meaning each “Kanazawa-haku (gold leaf)” fountain pen is subtly different, no two pens are the same – each pen is truly is one of a kind.
This real beauty, made with modern Maki-e and manually applied leaf gold is perfect for anyone who loves Asian arts.
This pen is gold trimmed and it comes with a very smooth-writing 14k gold nib available in Fine, Medium or Broad points.
The pen features a unique "Slip and Seal" mechanism in the cap, meaning an airtight screw-on cap that prevents ink from drying out. Other fountain pens can dry out in as little as 2–4 weeks without use, but Platinum's Slip and Seal cap prevents dry out for over a year without use.
The pen comes in a Paulownia wood gift box, a Platinum converter, one Blue Black cartridge ink and an international warranty.
