Platinum #3776 Celluloid Fountain Pen – Karakusa Blue, PTB-80000SR #55
The Platinum Karakusa Blue Celluloid fountain pen features a hand-engraved vine pattern over the blue celluloid body and section with rhodium-plated trim.
Celluloid is a traditional material for pen making, as it has beautiful density, shine and able to produce in a variety of colors and feels, most pen barrels were made of this material in the many years ago. However, as it must be dried for more than 6 months to ensure a perfect material for pens, it has been recognized as a difficult material.
After the celluloid is made, the vine pattern is hand engraved to the entire pen body and cap, using the Japanese Chinkin technique. The engraved design is then filled in with silver metallic powder.
The pen features a very smooth writing solid gold 14k nib available in UEF, EF, F, SF, M, B, and C points.
The pen features a unique "Slip and Seal" mechanism in the cap, meaning an airtight screw-on cap that prevents ink from drying out. Other fountain pens can dry out in as little as 2–4 weeks without use, but Platinum's Slip and Seal cap prevents dryout for over a year without use.
The pen is presented in a standard gift box and comes with a Platinum converter and a starter ink cartridge.
Platinum fountain pen is renowned of the great smoothness of its nib and weightless feel of fine writing pen.
