Platinum “Soryu” Fountain Pen with “a-un” dragons, PGB-12000M
This Vicoh series fountain pen “Soryu” with a barrel design of modern maki-e was launched in year 2016. The two dragons (“Soryu”) are intertwined on a fountain pen barrel, using as a motif a painting of the dragon originally illustrated by a master craftsman. A dragon has been commonly drawn as a symbol of auspicious power that represents people’s hopes and a symbol of luck from the ancient times. The two dragons are drawn as a pair of “a-un” dragons separated on the cap and the barrel. “A-un” is a concept where “a” refers to the first sound pronounced when opening a mouth while “un” is the last sound pronounced when closing the mouth. Therefore, the two sounds are believed to symbolize the beginning and the end of the universe. This pen shows two dragons flying in the air with the ascending dragon on the barrel while the descending dragon is described on the cap, expressing the desire of another ancestral era of Japanese culture.
There are two colors available, namely, black and Shu (Burgundy). The stunning fountain pen captures a pair of dragons of good luck in motion.
